A monolithic separation membrane structure (100) equipped with a substrate (211), a first support layer (212), and a separation membrane (300). The substrate (211) comprises a porous material and has a plurality of through-holes (TH). The first support layer (212) is formed on the inside surface (211S) of the plurality of through-holes (TH). The separation membrane (300) is positioned to the inside of the first support layer (212). The first support layer (212) contains: a skeleton having alumina as a principal component thereof; an inorganic binder having titania as a principal component thereof; and a sintering aid having silica and/or magnesia as a principal component thereof.
