The present invention relates to method for cationization polysaccharides, wherein the method comprises the steps, where a polysaccharide is mixed with a eutectic mixture formed of glycidyl trimethyl ammonium chloride and a hydrogen donor, in the presence of a base, and the mixing is continued until a viscous product is formed. The invention also relates to a said eutectic mixture, to a method for the manufacture of said eutectic mixture and to the use of it in the cationization of polysaccharides.
