<p>A coupling assembly comprising a coupling (217), a protective ring (201) and two tubulars (209,210), the coupling (217) of generally cylindrical shape with a channel therethrough, the coupling (217) having at least one internal thread (221,22la, 302) and two coupling ends and a pin end (213,214) of at least one of the two tubulars (209,210) having an external thread (220,220a) for threaded mating therewith so that the coupling assembly provides a connection between the two tubulars (209,210), the protective ring (201) comprising a ring body (202) for positioning adjacent an interior wall of the coupling between the two ends thereof, the ring body (202) being generally cylindrical and having a ring channel therethrough, the protective ring (201) comprises one of a tongue (203,204) and groove (205,206) and at least one of the ends of at least one of the two tubulars (209,210) having the other of a tongue (203,204) and groove (205,206).</p> |
