Abstract The application is for medical waste system. The system comprises a portable cart with a bag for containing medical waste. The system includes a mobile base and a frame attached to the base that is located above the base. The fame has an outer surface and an opening. The system may also include a bag tensioner arranged to engage a portion of a bag which is removably mounted to the frame so as to be open within said opening, so that at least a portion of the bag is placed in tension around a section of the outer surface at the tame.
