PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire three-dimensional image structure data of an observation area without point scanning or Z scanning.SOLUTION: An observation device includes: an illumination section which illuminates an observation area with a three-dimensional stripe pattern having different stripe pitches in a depth direction of the observation area; an observation section which generates an image of the observation area illuminated with the stripe pattern; a scanning section which scans the observation area with the stripe pattern; and a separation section which separates image components on different depths of the observation area, from each other, on the basis of the images generated in different scanning positions.
