1. A method of detecting a data symbol sequence transmitted over a wireless communications channel, the method comprising:
receiving, by a detector in a receiver, a plurality of data symbol sequence copies, each data symbol sequence copy comprising:
a data signal sequence including a plurality of data symbols and a data-symbol phase angle,a reference signal including at least one reference symbol; andnoise and an unknown phase shift, wherein the data signal is approximately identical for each copy and the unknown phase shift unknown for each copy; generating, by the detector, a single reference signal for each data symbol sequence copy of the plurality of data symbol sequence copies, each single reference signal is based on a corresponding reference signal; generating, by the detector, a condensed data symbol sequence copy for each of the plurality of data symbol sequence copies, the condensed data symbol sequence copy including the data signal sequence of the respective data symbol sequence copy of the plurality of data symbol sequence copies and the respective single reference signal; generating, by the detector, a phase shift difference vector for each of the condensed data symbol sequence copies; generating, by the detector, a final phase shift difference vector by combining all of the phase shift difference vectors; and detecting, by the detector, the data symbol sequence by:
a) phase shifting each of the plurality of data symbol sequence copies based on the final phase shift difference vector, andb) combining each of the phase shifted plurality of data signal sequence copies to obtain the data symbol sequence. |
