<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can achieve both improvement in operability of attaching and detaching a process unit and a reduction of the installation space.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a process unit 1 that has a latent image carrier 2; exposure means 11 for exposing the latent image carrier 2 to light; a loading unit 39 that loads the process unit 1 in an attachable/detachable manner; contact/separation means for relatively contacting and separating the latent image carrier 2 and exposure means 11 to/from each other; and moving means for moving the loading unit 39 between a storage position where the process unit 1 is stored at a predetermined position in an apparatus body 100 and an attachment/detachment position where the process unit 1 is moved to an opening side of the apparatus body 100 from the storage position. The process unit 1 is configured to be attached and detached to/from the loading unit 39, while the latent image carrier 2 and the exposure means 11 are separated from each other and the loading unit 39 is moved to the attachment/detachment position, and both the direction of movement of the loading unit 39 and the attachment/detachment direction of the process unit 1 intersect the axial direction of the latent image carrier 2.</p> |
