PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an optical alignment film based on a copolymerizable (meth)acrylic acid polymer soluble in a solvent having low toxicity and a low environmental impact; and a phase difference film obtained by orienting a liquid crystalline compound on the optical alignment film.SOLUTION: A film comprising a composition for an optical alignment film containing a copolymerizable (meth)acrylic acid polymer having a repeating unit represented by general formula (I-c) is irradiated with light having anisotropy and subjected to a heat treatment.
