This video display device (10) is provided with an information-amount modification unit (6) that modifies the amount of information per unit time in video provided by a video provision unit (1), a video display unit (8) that displays the resulting video, an image-capturing unit (3) that captures images of an object near a user, a movement detection unit (4) that detects the movement state of the user on the basis of the captured images, and an information-amount setting unit (5) that sets the modified amount of information per unit time for the video in accordance with the detected movement state of the user. If the user is moving, the information-amount setting unit (5) sets a lower modified amount of information per unit time for the video than if the user is not moving. This results in a video display device that displays video in such a manner so as not to cause discomfort in a moving user or reduce said user's attentiveness. |
