PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer sheet with which transfer-recording with high color development can be performed and back surface contamination is substantially prevented when a roll of the film is unwound and again wound into another roll in a process of manufacturing the sheet.SOLUTION: The thermal transfer sheet comprises: a long base sheet 1; an undercoat layer 2 and a release layer 7 sequentially disposed in a longitudinal direction on one surface of the base sheet; a heat-resistant lubricating layer 8 disposed on the other surface of the base sheet; thermal transfer ink layers in three colors of yellow, magenta and cyan, or in four colors of yellow, magenta, cyan and black, sequentially stacked in the longitudinal direction on the undercoat layer 2; and a thermal transfer protective layer 6 stacked on the release layer 7. The undercoat layer 7 contains a water-soluble polymer. The heat-resistant lubricating layer 8 contains a moisture absorbent added by 0.4 to 10.5 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of a binder resin. |
