PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus configured to record a focus detection point and focus detection data to be obtained at the time of capturing an image, on an image file, and to allow a user to use the data.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element having a first pixel group that receives light from a first exit pupil, a second pixel group that receives light from a second exit pupil, and a third pixel group that receives light from exit pupils including the first and second exit pupils; a focus detection section which uses image signals of the first and second pixel groups; an image processing section which converts imaging data including pixel data of the third pixel group and pixel data interpolated by the third pixel group corresponding to the first and second pixel groups, into an image file; and a data recording section which records detection data from the first and second pixel groups. The recording section has first mode of recording detection data from the first and second pixel groups in the image file, and second mode of recording results of range-finding by means of the first and second pixel groups, in the image file. |
