An apparatus for producing an absorbent article including: an upstream side transport mechanism and a downstream side transport mechanism that transport an elastic sheet-shaped member that is continuous along a transport direction; a stretch-rate adjustment mechanism that is disposed between the upstream side transport mechanism and downstream side transport mechanism and adjusts a stretch rate of the elastic sheet-shaped member in the transport direction; and a processing device that processes the elastic sheet-shaped member which the downstream side transport mechanism transports. When the upstream side transport mechanism transports a first elastic sheet-shaped member in which portions to be formed into the absorbent articles are arranged at a first pitch in the transport direction, the stretch-rate adjustment mechanism adjusts the stretch rate of the first elastic sheet-shaped member so that the portions to be formed into the absorbent articles are arranged at a predetermined pitch. When the upstream side transport mechanism transports a second elastic sheet-shaped member in which portions to be formed into the absorbent articles are arranged at a second pitch that is different from the first pitch in the transport direction, the stretch-rate adjustment mechanism adjusts the stretch rate of the second elastic sheet-shaped member so that the portions to be formed into the absorbent articles are arranged at the predetermined pitch. |
