[Problem] Provided is an electrode catalyst that is favorably used as an anode catalyst of a solid polymer fuel cell electrode, and is able to have further increased CO resistance and catalyst durability. [Solution] The problem is solved by means of a fuel cell electrode catalyst that is a complex catalyst of RuO2 nanosheets and an electrode catalyst resulting from platinum particles or ruthenium/platinum particles being carried on carbon black, and that is configured in a manner so that the Ru/Pt mole ratio configuring the complex catalyst is in the range of 0.1-1.5 inclusive. The electrode catalyst has an HOR activity retention rate of at least 72%, a catalyst degradation rate of no greater than 13%, and is preferably used in CO resistance applications and catalyst degradation suppression applications. |
