<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device configured to detect break of a resistance heating layer, to stop supplying power to the resistance heating layer.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus (40) includes a fixing belt (100) having a heating layer (102) that generates heat with power supplied from electrodes (105a, 105b) arranged at both lateral ends in a width direction. The fixing apparatus (40) includes: an intermediate electrode (119) connected to a heating layer between the electrodes; power supply means (79) for supplying power to the heating layer; first and second resistive elements (R01, R02) connected in series electrically to the heating layer, and arranged so that a ratio of a resistance value of the resistive element (R02) with respect to the resistive element (R01) is equal to a ratio of a resistance value of a resistor (R32) with respect to a resistor (R13) of the heating layer, which is obtained before using the belt; a detection circuit (140) for detecting a current flowing between a connection point (P4) and the intermediate electrode connected to each other; and a control circuit (150) for stopping power to be supplied to the heating layer, in accordance with the current detected by the detection circuit.</p> |
