<p>The present invention relates to a fingerprint developer composition comprising organofunctional silica nanoparticles. The fingerprint developer composition, which is generally hydrophobic in character, preferentially adheres to fingerprint residues of latent fingerprints to produce a high resolution imagable fingerprint impression to whose image (e.g. photographed) counterparts yield high minutiae confidence ratings in fingerprint matching algorithms. The finerprint developer composition is also multifunctional in that it additionally serves to preserve latent fingerprints and the residues thereof and also absorbs/adsorbs hydrophobic fingerprint residues, which contain key forensic information, to facilitate their forensic examination.</p> |
