PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gene that provides plants with disease resistance, drought resistance, salinity tolerance, increased photosynthesis efficiency and increased number of tillers at the same time.SOLUTION: A nucleic acid construct that provides a plant with at least one of the following properties: (i) disease resistance; (ii) drought resistance; (iii) salinity tolerance, (iv) increased photosynthesis efficiency and (v) increased number of tillers when expressed in the plant, which construct comprises: (a) a nucleic acid sequence including a specified nucleic acid sequence or a fragment thereof encoding a protein corresponding to the specified nucleic acid sequence; (b) a nucleic acid sequence differing from the sequence of (a) by one or more substitution, addition or deletion; (c) a nucleic acid sequence having 70% sequence identity to the nucleic acid having the sequence of (a); or (d) a nucleic acid sequence that hybridizes with a nucleic acid having the sequence of (a) under stringent conditions.
