The present invention pertains to an energy recovery system in a seawater desalination plant using a reverse osmosis membrane method to remove salt from seawater. The energy recovery system supplies high-pressure water obtained by pressurizing raw water with a high-pressure pump (5) to a reverse osmosis membrane cartridge (8), supplies concentrated water discharged from the reverse osmosis membrane cartridge to a volumetric energy recovery device (21) to recover pressure energy from the concentrated water, pressurizes some of the raw water supplied to the volumetric energy recovery device, and causes the pressurized raw water to flow together with the pressurized high-pressure water using a high-pressure pump. The energy recovery system is equipped with a booster pump (44) for raising the pressure of the concentrated water discharged from the reverse osmosis membrane cartridge, and an energy recovery turbine (14) for recovering energy by using the pressure difference between the pressurized raw water from the volumetric energy recovery device and the high-pressure water discharged from the high-pressure pump. |
