A pulse rate detection device configured so as to be capable of accurately extracting a breath pulse from a measurement signal obtained from an organism, the pulse rate detection device in which an autocorrelation value of a measurement signal obtained from an organism is found in a correlation value calculation time period (Tc1), and when a maximum value (P1a) of the autocorrelation value is present in the correlation value calculation time period (Tc1), a breath pulse is estimated to be present at the time of the maximum value, a detection pulse (B1) is extracted, a new correlation value calculation time period (Tc2) is set from the time of the detection pulse, and a determination is made as to whether a maximum value (P1b) of the autocorrelation value is present in the new correlation value calculation time period (Tc2), and when detection pulses (B1, B2) are extracted, a breath rate is calculated from a time period (Tb) therebetween. |
