An imaging device according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with: an imaging unit for capturing video; a signal processing unit which uses a plurality of different exposure conditions to generate, in accordance with each of the exposure conditions, video image data for the video captured by the imaging unit; an image recognition unit for performing image recognition on the video image data generated for each of the exposure conditions by the signal processing unit; and a selection unit which selects, on the basis of the image recognition results obtained from the image recognition unit for the video image data for each of the exposure conditions, an exposure condition for the imaging unit which is suitable for capturing the video.
