<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of smelting a metallic titanium ingot having uniform components in a titanium ingot smelting technology in which a melting material including particles with different sizes and components is put into a melting hearth to smelt a titanium ingot. <P>SOLUTION: A material is supplied to a hearth, an electron beam is radiated thereto to make a molten metal, the molten metal is put into a mold to obtain a metallic ingot. In such method of melting a metal, a material sedimentary layer made of supplied and undissolved material is provided in the molten metal formed inside the hearth, and the material sedimentary layer is formed away from the sidewall of the hearth. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
