Each of the plurality of pixels is arranged between a pixel electrode (21) and a counter electrode (22) which are arranged opposite to each other and includes an electrophoretic element (23) including electrophoretic particles and retention volume (27) for temporarily holding a pixel signal supplied to the pixel electrode.
