PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition having good flame-retardancy essentially without using an organic halogen-based flame-retardant and a phosphate-based flame-retardant, and having excellent rigidity, heat resistance, impact resistance, thermal stability and appearance. SOLUTION: The method for producing a flame-retardant thermoplastic resin composition containing (A) 99-50 wt.% thermoplastic resin, preferably an aromatic polycarbonate resin, (B) 1-50 wt.% inorganic powder and (C) 0.01-10 pts.wt. of an organic siloxane having an aromatic group based on 100 pts.wt. of the sum of the components A and B, wherein the component B and the component C are mixed with each other beforehand and the obtained premixture is used in the production.
