PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and a control method of the recorder, in which ink is not wasted and the recording operation time becomes shorter when a "n in 1 color copying" of a text document manuscript and color photography manuscript is carried out, especially, in the case of carrying out a "2 in 1 color copying". SOLUTION: The recorder is equipped with an operation switching means for changing a monochrome image recording and multi-color image recording in the duplication recording of image to be duplicated, a means for carrying out the duplication recording by reading two or more images to be duplicated and composing them into a single image, an input means which issues the instruction for changing the recording operation and makes various settings concerning the recording operation, a detection means for detecting the information input through the input means and a storage domain switching means for changing a RAM domain which stores record data according to the result detected by the detection means.
