PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal type continuously variable transmission constructed to highly and compatibly attain a reduced size/weight, higher transmitting efficiency, quick shifting operation, less fatigue on the traction face. SOLUTION: A synchronizing means 65 constructed by sector gears 16, 16 synchronizes the rocking angles of trunnions 9b, 9b provided three each in cavities. A displacement driving means 66 constructed by a feed screw lever 67 and first and second feed nuts 69, 70 gives synchronous rocking displacement to the trunnions 9b, 9b provided one each in the cavities. Power rollers 8a, 8b are supported on the trunnions 9b, 9b in a rocking displaceable manner. An inclined shaft as the rocking center of the power rollers 8a, 8b is inclined to the direction of inclined shafts provided at both ends of the trunnions 9b, 9b. When the trunnions 9b, 9b are first inclined for shifting operation, the power rollers 8a, 8b are equally inclined in accordance with the side slip of a traction portion. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
