PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-particle-diameter black toner which achieves higher resolution, excels in thin line reproducibility and excels in charge stability and duration stability. SOLUTION: The black toner has black toner particles containing at least a binder resin and a colorant, and one or more kinds of inorganic fine powders, wherein the black toner has a magnetization value (σs) in an external magnetic field of 796 kA/m being≤2.0 Am<SP>2</SP>/kg, the binder resin contains (a) a polyester resin, (b) a hybrid resin component having a polyester unit and a vinyl polymer unit or (c) a mixture of those, the colorant comprises iron-titanium multiple oxide, contains a compound selected from a silane coupling agent and silicone oil, and is contained in an amount of 20-70 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the binder resin, and the black toner particles have an intensity ratio of Si to Ti in fluorescent X-ray measurement in a range of 2.0-5.0%.
