<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glow plug capable of being heated to a high temperature by a power source of a limited capacity. <P>SOLUTION: In this glow plug 1 having a ceramic heating element 100 generating heat by power distribution, a ceramic insulating supporting body 120 in which the heating element 100 is buried, and a heat generating portion composed of a pair of lead wires 111, 113 pulled out to a surface of the insulating supporting body 120 at its terminal portions 112, 114, and conducted to the heating element 100, and heating a combustion chamber of an engine to assist ignition, the heating element 100 has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance, and is included in an area A satisfying the relationship that (a) R20 is 0.3-0.6Ω, (b) R1200 is 0.7-1.3Ω, and (c) temperature coefficient of resistance R1200/R20 is 2.0-4.0, when a resistance value at 20°C is R20, and a resistance value at 1200°C is R1200. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
