摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a frame even when one or more layers of thin films constituting a sealing layer is formed by a formation method low in positional accuracy, in a light emitting device. SOLUTION: This light emitting device is provided with: a substrate 10; a plurality of OLEDs 50 arranged on the substrate 10 and each having a positive electrode 81 and a negative electrode sandwiching a light emitting layer; an insulating film 18 formed on the substrate 10 and insulating the positive electrodes and the negative electrodes of the plurality of OLEDs (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) 50 from each other; a circumferential wall 20 formed on the substrate 10 and positioned outside the insulating film 18; and a sealing layer formed on the substrate 10 and covering the plurality of OLEDs 50 and the insulating film 18. The sealing layer is composed of one or more layers of thin films, and an end of the thin film (an organic buffer film 22 or a gas barrier layer 24) having the largest maximum thickness within the thin films constituting the sealing layer is positioned between the insulating film 18 and the circumferential wall 20.
