PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of surely engaging a pinion gear and a rack member with each other to be constructed in a thin type even when a thin pinion gear is used. SOLUTION: In a state where a holding plate 41 enters a space between a pinion gear 51 and a transfer motor M2, the rack teeth 43a and 42a of fixed and movable side racks 43 and 42 are engaged with the pinion gear 51. The movable side rack 42 is pressed in a Q direction by a plate spring 41c formed in the holding plate 41, thereby reducing backlashing of the engagement between the pinion gear 51 and the rack member. As the holding plate 41 is positioned below the pinion gear 51, the rack member is prevented from being disengaged from the pinion gear 51. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
