PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner sufficiently exhibiting the function of silica while sufficiently preventing the occurrence of adverse effects by isolated silica, and to provide a method for manufacturing toner by which the above toner can be manufactured. SOLUTION: The toner particle 1 includes a core region 11 containing a resin component and a colorant and a shell region 12 covering the periphery of the core region 11 and having a composition different from that of the core region 11, wherein the shell region 12 contains a resin component and particles 121 comprising silica. The particles 121 comprising silica in the shell region 12 is a mixture of particles included in the shell region 12 and particles partially exposed on the surface of the toner particle 1.
