PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical device for preventing display defect by simplifying an assembling process to improve yield, achieving cost reduction, and improving sealing performance, and to provide electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The electro-optical device 1 is configured to have a display element substrate 35 provided with a display element 21 and a color filter substrate 36 provided with a color filter layer 37 of different colors bonded so that the display element 21 side and the color filter layer 37 side face each other. In a substrate body 31 of the color filter substrate 36, the center part of a couter face 31a forming the color filter layer 37 is dug and a peripheral wall part 31b is formed on a peripheral edge part.
