PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of transmitting power of a motor for driving a planetary gear to a driven part properly. SOLUTION: This printer is provided with the driven part 32, the motor 38 for driving the driven part 32, a driving gear 39, a driven gear 41, a planetary gear part 40 composed of a sun gear, the planetary gear, etc., a detector 31 for detecting a condition of the driven part 32, and a control part 60 for controlling the motor 38. A motor driving part 63 constituting the control part 60 drives the motor 38 to increase driving torque of the motor 38 from first predetermined set torque up to second predetermined set torque until a condition detection part 62 detects a target stop condition of the driven part 32 based on output signals from the detector 31 and drives the motor again by smaller driving torque than the second set torque when the target stop condition cannot be detected even if the motor is driven by the second set torque.
