PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a box packing apparatus capable of performing a smooth transferring of an outer box and further performing a positive pushing-in of a group of items within the outer box without raising or falling the outer box. SOLUTION: This box packing apparatus 100 comprises an opening or closing device 13, a holding and pressing device 8, a pushing-in device 14, an outer box transferring device 80, a guide member 20, a control device 30 for controlling the opening or closing device 13, holding and pressing device 8, pushing-in device 14 and outer box transferring device 80. A guide member ascending or descending device 21 is provided to raise or fall the guide member 20. The control device 30 controls the outer box transferring device 80, loads in the outer box C, controls the guide member raising or falling device 21 to fall the guide member 20, contacts the edge of an opening of the outer box C to the outer surface of a frame member, controls the pushing-in device 14 to push a group of items into the outer box C.
