METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONSTRUCTING INTERNET PROTOCOL ADDRESS IN A COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A system, a method, an MS(Mobile Station), and a gateway for configuring an IP(Internet Protocol) address in a communication system are provided to shorten time for configuring an IP address. A GW(Gateway)(205) periodically broadcasts a network advertisement message(210). An MS(201) configures an IP address of 128 bits based on a network prefix in the network advertisement message and an interface identifier of the MS(212). The MS transmits a registration request message to a BS(Base Station)(203) in order to register the IP address(214). The BS transmits the registration request message to the GW. The GW stores information related to the IP address through the registration request message in a database, generates a registration response message corresponding to the registration request message, and transmits it to the BS.
