<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power conversion device and a control method therefor capable of controlling generation loss/temperature corresponding to a status of an inverter motor by individually operating a plurality of inverters. <P>SOLUTION: This power conversion device includes inverters 11, 12 for driving the motor 16, and a control unit 13 for controlling the output voltage of the respective inverters, and setting the respective inverters in either status of rectangular wave voltage driving, PWM voltage driving, or stop. The control unit 13 selects at least either status, the PWM voltage driving or the rectangular wave voltage driving based on a command value of current vector obtained by combining the output voltage values of the respective inverters.
