PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easy to carry demonstration apparatus that enables viewer to visually comprehend the principle of operation of a heat pump. SOLUTION: The demonstration apparatus of the principle of operation of a heat pump comprises a hollow circular cylinder which is made of atmospheric pressure resistant transparent material and fixed by one or a plurality of supporting stands, inside of which is airtight with a high-boiling point gas and a rubber balloon that is made airtight, except for its blow-in port, is interpolated, and on a part of whose external surface a spiral tube for making water flow through is welded or disposed; an air blower connected to the blow-in port of the balloon via a blast tube and a leak valve; and a blower for sending peripheral air to a part where the spiral tube is arranged.
