PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fermentation production method of a polyhydroxyalkanoate copolymer (PHA), with which a PHA is improved in 3-hydroxyhexanoic acid (3HH) composition relative to a 3-hydroxybutyric acid (3HB) composition, without causing the polymer content in cells to be reduced in the production of the PHA and preferably, a fermentation production method of PHA that uses Cupriavidus necator which is a safe producing microorganism , does not use expensive fatty acids, maintains a polymer content at 65 wt.% or higher which is high level, as well as, controls the 3HH composition so that it rises, in the fermentation production of P(3HB-co-3HH) where the 3HH composition is 7 mol% or higher. SOLUTION: The fermentation production method of PHA, comprises using Cupriavidus necator which produces a polyhydroxyalkanoate, containing 3HB and 3HH monomer units and having an inactivated phbA gene, and a carbon source used further contains butyric acid and/or butanol.
