The invention relates to a combustion chamber of a combustion plant, in particular a gas turbine, with a heat shield (1) comprising at least two segments (2, 2'). Each of the segments (2, 2') has a liner element (4, 4´) facing a combustion chamber (3) and a holding device (5, 5´), the liner element (4, 4') being attached via a support element (6, 6') to a support structure (7). The attachment is thereby carried out via a peripheral region (8) embodied on the liner element (4), which peripheral region engages behind a flange region (9) formed by the holding device (5). To cool the peripheral regions (8, 8') of the liner elements (4, 4') facing the gap (10), at least one through opening (12) is provided in the peripheral region (8, 8') of at least one liner element (4, 4') and/or in the base of the gap (10), through which opening cooling gas flows into the gap (10).
