The vehicle has a common controller provided for controlling a driving authorization system and an electronically controllable parking brake system, where the controller is provided as a uniform component. The common controller checks the presence of the driving authorization for controlling the parking brake system. The common controller transfers signals for opening wheel brake modules of the parking brake system over a secured signal transmission path. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a motor vehicle.
