PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of working by which press working for forming a flat surface in a straight part of a metallic pipe can be applied by utilizing a draw type pipe bender. SOLUTION: This method is a method of working the metallic pipe 8 for applying press working to the metallic pipe 8 with the draw type pipe bender. In this method of working the metallic pipe 8, the pipe bender is provided with a press mandrel 7 having an outside cross-sectional shape which is the inside cross-sectional shape of the metallic pipe 8 with a press recessed die 72 added thereto and a press clamping die 6 having an inside cross-sectional shape which is the outside cross-sectional shape formed dividing the metallic pipe 8 into halves with a press projecting die 61 added thereto. The press mandrel 7 is inserted into the metallic pipe 8, the metallic pipe 8 is held between the press core bar 7 and the press clamping die 6 and the press working by pressing with a pair of the press recessed die 72 and the press projecting die 61 is applied to the metallic pipe 8.
