PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolytic water generator which has a simple device structure, and can stably and highly efficiently generate hydrogen while suppressing an increase in pH and control the pH and hydrogen content of alkaline electrolytic water at the respective desired values when generating the alkaline electrolytic water. SOLUTION: In a state where the amount of current applied to raw water in a cathode chamber 4 by an applied current amount control means becomes a value required for obtaining alkaline electrolytic water having a predetermined hydrogen content, a current density distribution change means 12 changes a current density distribution on the surfaces of a cathode 3 and an anode 1 so that the measurement result of the pH value of the alkaline electrolytic water discharged from the alkaline water discharge passage 9, by a pH measuring means 21 shows a predetermined value.
