Disclosed is a therapeutic and/or ameliorating agent or a therapy and/or amelioration method for disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) which h as a higher therapeutic effect. Specifically disclosed is a therapeutic and/ or prophylactic agent for DIC, which comprises thrombomodurin as an active i ngredient. The therapeutic and/or prophylactic agent is administered to a pa tient having a decreased anti-thrombin level, namely a patient having an act ivation value of anti-thrombin in the plasma of less than 50%.
