Electrical fuse device

An electrical fuse device comprising first and second main electrical contacts between which a primary fuse is electrically connectable; a secondary fuse having one end electrically connected to the first main contact; a switch for selectably connecting the other end of the secondary fuse to the second main contact; and means for detecting a failure of the primary fuse, and causing the switch to connect the other end of the secondary fuse to the second main contact in response to a detected failure of the primary fuse. An actuator is provided for actuating the switch, the actuator and a primary fuse carrier both being provided on a removable part of the device.
