IDENTIFYING AND USING TRAFFIC INFORMATION INCLUDING MEDIA INFORMATION

A method of identifying and using traffic information is provided to enable a user to easily obtain a traffic state by transmitting the traffic information in a multimedia format. A tuner(210) is tuned in a signal band of traffic information and outputs modulated traffic information. A demodulator(220) demodulates the modulated traffic information and outputs a traffic information signal. A TPEG(Transport Protocol Expert Group) terminal(230) decodes the traffic information signal and acquires various traffic information. A GPS(Global Positioning System) module(280) receives satellite signals from plural satellites and detects a current position. A memory(240) stores an electronic map and various graphic information. An input unit(290) receives an input from a user. A navigation engine(250) controls a screen based on the unit input, the current position, and the acquired traffic information. A display panel(270) displays images. A panel drive(260) applies a driving signal to a panel. The TPEG decoder acquires CTT(Congestion and Travel-time Information) information and delivers the CTT information to the navigation engine. The traffic data contains media type ID for determining the type of a media object. The media object is retrieved based on the media object.
