A hoist controller is provided to reduce shock of a hoist motor and offer a soft start function by driving the hoist motor through phase control. A hoist controller(300) includes a transformer(420), a control unit, an input unit(410), a current detecting unit(CT), a brake rectifying unit(450), a display unit(460), and a warning unit(470). The transformer changes a voltage-level through phase control and supplies the changed voltage into a hoist motor(480). The control unit supplies a trigger pulse with at least one of controlled duty ratio and pulse number to the transformer. The input unit generates a first input information signal corresponding to a rated current, an offset, and excel time. The current detecting unit detects a current supplied to the hoist motor through a U-W terminal and outputs the detected current into the control unit. The brake rectifying unit rectifies a single phase voltage through an R-S terminal and supplies a DC voltage. The display unit provides an operating condition of the hoist controller to a user. The warning unit outputs warning sound according to control of the control unit.
