A method for generating a document score used for searching a book and a system for the same are provided to generate a document score for evaluating the quality of a document for the searched book and rank books of high quality to an upper side of a book search result page based on the document score, thereby improving the quality of a search result. A sale score generator(610) generates a sale score based on a sale index and bibliography information of a book. A document length score generator(620) generates a document length score based on the bibliography information. A document score generator(630) generates a document score based on the sale and document length score. The document score is a score for evaluating the quality of a user query and ranking of the search result is determined based on the document score. The sale score generator includes a generator(611) and a penalty weight assigner(612) assigning penalty weight to the sale score based on the bibliography information. The document length score generator includes a character string comparator(621) comparing the length of a character string related to the bibliography information with the length of a predetermined character string and a comparison result processor(622).
