A self timer count display method in a portable terminal and a device thereof are provided to display counts of a self timer by using a camera flash formed on a camera module in case of conducting self timer of a camera function, thereby increasing a user's recognition for the self timer counts. In case of a photographing request by a self timer function, self timer counts are initiated(S501,S503). A self timer count state is displayed by turning on/off a flash formed on a camera module according to the self timer counts(S505). It is checked whether the self timer counts expire(S507). If so, on/off operation termination and photographing processes of the flash are carried out(S509-S515).
