A mitochondria enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1 is provided to be specifically overexpressed in mitochondria of stomach cancer cells, thereby being useful for an early diagnosis of the stomach cancer. A marker for diagnosing stomach cancer includes mitochondria enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1. A composition for diagnosing the stomach cancer comprises the mitochondria enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1 or an antibody specific to an immunogenic fragment thereof. A method for diagnosing the stomach cancer of mammal excluding human comprises a step of measuring the expression amount of the mitochondria enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1. A method for screening a drug for treating, inhibiting or preventing stomach cancer comprises steps of contacting cells from a stomach cancer cell line with a test material and then measuring the expression change of the mitochondria enoyl coenzyme A hydratase 1 from the cells. Further, the antibody is a single clone antibody.
