PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which a light shielding membrane of high membrane hardness is realized, and in which brightness and high contrast are improved. SOLUTION: A phosphor PH is formed on the inner face of a front face substrate SUB 2 thicker than the light shielding membrane by being filled by an opening BMA of a first light shielding membrane BMF, and stuck out on the first light shielding membrane BMF. An aluminum thin membrane is formed and forms an anode AD by covering the first light shielding membrane BMF and the phosphor PH. A spacer SPC planted and erected between the inner face of a rear face substrate SUB1 and the inner face of the front face substrate SUB2 is arranged on a second light shielding membrane BMS with a large membrane strength on the front face substrate 2 side.
