PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display the number of steps more rapidly when starting to walk, and to easily obtain the content of the display, in a pedometer with a walk determination function. SOLUTION: In a first walk determination mode, even when the number of steps is detected, the indicated number of steps is not updated in a display part 106. When a user is temporarily determined to be walking in the first walk determination mode, walk determination is further performed in a second walk determination mode. When walking is detected in the second walk determination mode, the indicated cumulative number of steps is updated in the display part 106, and a blinking display is performed so as to indicate a walk determination mode. When the user is determined to be walking also in the second walk determination mode, the mode enters a footstep counting mode to perform ordinary footstep counting, and the cumulative number of steps is displayed by lighting display in a display mode different from that for the walk determination mode in order to indicate the footstep counting mode.
