The invention relates to an internal brace of an automotive vehicle side member, being generally slender in shape and having a transverse section the dimensions of which increase toward one of the ends (12) of the brace (6) in order to define a support base (16) for a frame upright (13) of a side door of the vehicle. According to the invention, the brace (6) comprises a principal structural shape (23) and trim (24) added to one end (26) of the structural shape (23) in order to form with said end (26) the base (16) of the brace (6), said trim (24) having a transverse section of larger dimensions than the transverse section of the structural shape (23) of the brace (6) and one rear side extending as a continuation of the rear edge of the structural shape (23). The invention has application in the field of internal braces for automotive vehicles.
